6/12/2023 0 Comments Apocalypse by Macronomicon![]() He is smart as well as a little a glass cannon. ![]() The good: MC both is as well as is not OP. If you delight in System Armageddon stories, provide this set a crack, it most definitely isn’t a common tale whatsoever. The side charactors are fascinating as well as well fleshed out, no cardboard intermediaries. The MC is intelligent as well as mistaken, with a credible growth and also discovering curve. I completely enjoyed this story, it is a take on the system armageddon trope, however with a lot of originality and great characterisation to grasp your focus. ![]() 6/12/2023 0 Comments Rachael lippincott mikki daughtry![]() ![]() 2019 by Rachael Lippincott (Author), Mikki Daughtry (Author), Tobias Iaconis (Author) 4.7 13,480 ratings See all formats and editions Kindle Edition £0.00 This title and over 1 million more are available with Kindle Unlimited £4. Rachael Lippincott Mikki Daughtry Five Feet Apart Paperback 10 Jan. ![]() Will really added a fun and exciting element to the book that kept me on the edge of my seat and the impact they both had on each other really touched my heart. I figured that some of you may have already heard of, or seen the movie, but I’m here to tell you to give the book a shot as well! It made me bawl my eyes out and allowed for more emotion to be felt. Five Feet Apart is a book about their influence on each other with appearances made by other vital side characters.Įven though I read this book a couple of months before the movie came out, I still watched the movie. Fortunately, this doesn’t get in the way of them catching feelings for each other. Lisa Jackson's books are number one bestsellers in America. In April 2011 Lisa Jacksons title Devious hit the Publishers Weekly. Now Kate has built a good life for herself and her son, Jon, in a small town in Oregon. ![]() Fifteen years ago in Boston, Kate Summers made a bargain: she became the mother of a perfect, beautiful newborn baby, and she promised she would never breathe a word about the adoption to anyone. ![]() 6/11/2023 0 Comments Ántonia![]() ![]() That takes guts, and these were gutsy people. My own great-grandparents left Denmark in the late 1800s, in a similar time frame and reason as the people in this book, and brought their three young sons with them, boys who would never know their native land, or ever see it again. These families left everything they knew, even their native languages, to come to the great unknown, with the promise of a better life. ![]() Basically, it is the story of the Great Melting Pot, how foreign born families immigrated to the United States, specifically the Great Plains, and did their best to fit in, make a living, and give their children an opportunity that could not be had anywhere else in the world. (I love doing that!) It is beautifully written by the great Willa Cather, and I understand it is very much autobiographical. Oddly, I ended up with three versions of this book: Physical book, Kindle edition, and audio. "My Antonia" (emphasis on the "i") has been on my "to-read" list for a very long time. ![]() 6/10/2023 0 Comments Pride and prejudice![]() ![]() He considers Jane Bennet to be an inappropriate marriage partner for his friend Bingley because of the behaviour of her mother and younger sister, ignoring the fact that Jane, herself, behaves appropriately. ![]() Instead, Mr Darcy’s most serious failing is his prejudice.ĭarcy prejudges those around him based on minimal contact with them combined with the behaviour of their relations. As Mrs Reynolds points out, “some people call him proud,” but she has never seen him display unseemly pride to her, to the other staff members, or to anyone in the neighbourhood of Pemberley (233). He appreciates his heritage and wants to live up to it, but he does not lord the position he holds over other people. Although Mr Darcy is often referred to in the novel as prideful, pride is not his failing. ![]() 6/10/2023 0 Comments Ian forster the machine stops![]() ![]() This passage confirms that Vashti and her son live on opposite ends of the world, though they both seem to live in the underground Machine. By complaining that the air-ship gives her “no ideas,” Vashti seems to mean that she only values logical and rational pursuits, while Kuno is more interested in emotional experiences. Kuno perhaps enjoys riding the air-ship because he, unlike his mother, appreciates the natural world, and this is one of the few places where he can experience it, albeit from a distance. Kuno likes riding aboard the air-ships and gets inspiration from them, while Vashti views them as horrible and boring. The differences between Vashti and Kuno’s characters are also revealed in their different attitudes toward the air-ships and the stars. ![]() ![]() ![]() Moreover, the fact that Vashti and Kuno live a two days’ trip apart means that although they both live in the Machine, they probably live on opposite sides of the world-which speaks to how vast the Machine is. This exchange reveals more details about the world of the story: the description of the “horrible brown earth” suggests that some kind of environmental disaster has stripped Earth of all or most vegetation, and the details about air-ships suggests that this futuristic society has a sophisticated transportation system. ![]() 6/10/2023 0 Comments Miss lulu bett book![]() Lulu considers this a reasonable story, but her brother-in-law, Dwight, insists that it would be a humiliation to the family to reveal such a thing, and insists that she tell everyone instead that Ninian grew bored with her and left her. However, within a month, Lulu is back home, having discovered that Ninian was already legally married: 18 years prior he had wed a girl who left him after 2 years, but he had forgotten about it. ![]() On learning this, Ninian and Lulu decide they like the idea of being married, and choose to remain together. While joking around one evening they find themselves accidentally married, due to the laws of the state requiring little more than wedding vows to be recited while a magistrate is in the room for a marriage to count as legal. When her brother-in-law's brother, Ninian, comes to visit, there is a certain attraction between them. ![]() She does not complain about her position, but is not happy. The story concerns a woman, Lulu, who lives with her sister's family, essentially acting as a servant. ![]() |
